The Knife-Making Tradition of Maniago at the Service of MK Knives & Tools

November 18–20, 2024 marked an extraordinarily intense period for MK Knives & Tools, spent in the Italian town of Maniago. During this time, we visited the FOX Knives production line, closely observing the final stages of manufacturing the Ingeni folding knives.

While at the factory of the renowned Italian manufacturer, we had the opportunity to explore the technologies and processes involved in the entire operation—from the initial knife design to its packaging and preparation for sale.

Ingeni Assembly: Focused on the Goal

Although the experience was immensely interesting, the main purpose of the visit remained front and center: focusing on the assembly of Ingeni knives from the meticulously prepared components. Naturally, Marcin Kampka, the founder of MK Knives & Tools, concentrated on the immediate concerns related to the final stages of producing the three planned versions of the Ingeni folding knife: Urban Gray, Vanguard, and Blackout.

The Ingeni Folding Knife: When Details Matter

Particular attention was paid to the hand-assembly and fine-tuning of each product. Equally important were the final marking stages (logo, steel type) and sharpening, which brought each version of the Ingeni to its completed form. The ultimate assembly of the original sets—including the knife, zippered pouch, MK patch, certificate, and final product packaging—served as the crowning moment in finalizing the project and ensuring the Ingeni’s availability for MK fans in the first half of December.

Strengthening Partnerships and Planning for the Future

Naturally, the visit also involved meetings with various departments, including sales, marketing, production, and FOX Knives management, led by Gabriele Frati. Beyond addressing current issues, discussions centered on the growing collaboration and future plans, which look incredibly promising.
