GRUB – The Titanium EDC Fork Opens a New Chapter in the MK Knives & Tools Story

Sept 22, 2026

TOOLS In MK Knives & Tools – A Commitment, Not Just A Name

The word TOOLS in the name MK Knives & Tools has always represented more than an addition to the brand name. It is also a commitment to develop practical objects that extend beyond fixed blades, folding knives, and the accessories already associated with the work of Polish knifemaker and designer Marcin Kampka.

Following the recent expansion of the knife family with the Flin DP, introduced on May 31, 2026, and the Sentinel FT, presented on July 3, 2026, the time has come to reveal a concept that had been developing in the mind of the brand’s founder for quite some time.

The idea was deliberately different from anything previously shown in the MK Knives & Tools portfolio. At the same time, it had to remain unmistakably connected to the brand and move naturally between the outdoor, bushcraft, travel, and everyday carry worlds—just as the knives do. This approach became the foundation of a new product from the TOOLS category: a compact titanium EDC fork called GRUB.

GRUB – A Familiar Object Reimagined For EDC

GRUB begins with one of the most familiar household accessories and develops it according to the principles of modern everyday carry. If compact fixed blades, folders, pry bars, pens, and other small tools can become carefully designed EDC objects, why should a personal fork remain limited to the kitchen drawer?

The concept was not simply to reduce the dimensions of a standard fork. GRUB was designed from the beginning as a purpose-built EDC accessory with its own proportions, materials, handle construction, protective sheath, and carry options. Its compact form makes it easy to add to equipment that is already carried every day, while its geometry preserves the practical function expected from a real eating utensil.

Titanium was the natural material for the project. It combines low weight, strength, corrosion resistance, and the distinctive character appreciated by EDC users and collectors. More importantly, it allows GRUB to remain genuinely useful without becoming another heavy item added to a pocket, organizer, waist pack, or backpack.

The finished form is only 116 mm (4.57″) long, yet it remains comfortable enough for snacks, small meals, travel stops, campsite food, and outdoor cooking. GRUB is small by design, but it was never intended to be merely a miniature display piece.

Designed To Travel Like A Compact Fixed Blade

The second part of the concept concerned carry. GRUB was planned around a fitted Kydex or Holstex sheath inspired by the solutions used for compact fixed blades. This gives the fork a defined place in an EDC setup and keeps its working end separated from other carried items.

The sheath allows GRUB to be worn in a neck-style configuration, carried loose in a pocket, or stored inside a pouch, organizer, travel bag, or backpack. The compact format also makes it easy to keep the fork close to food preparation equipment without occupying the space required by conventional cutlery.

One Carry System – A Natural Companion For MK Knives & Tools

GRUB was also created to become part of a larger, visually consistent carry system.

Its compact sheath can be attached to the Kydex sheath of an MK Knives & Tools fixed blade, allowing both products to travel together as one coordinated setup.

This option is especially natural alongside the compact Flin SF and Flin DP. Their proportions, materials, and everyday character make them ideal partners for GRUB: the knife handles preparation and cutting, while the fork completes the setup when it is time to eat. The result is a compact pairing suited to work, travel, hiking, a campsite, or a quick meal outdoors.

The connection is not limited to the Flin family. The GRUB sheath concept was developed so that it can accompany the Kydex carry systems of other MK Knives & Tools models as well. Depending on the selected mounting solution and sheath configuration, users can build a personalized set without sacrificing the coherent visual language of the brand.

Compact Dimensions With Full Functionality

Every dimension of GRUB was selected to balance portability with comfortable use.

The 59 mm (2.32″) handle section provides enough contact area for controlled handling, while the 38 mm (1.50″) tines retain the practical proportions required for picking up meat, vegetables, fruit, and smaller snacks.

The handle measures 15.5 mm (0.61″) wide and 11.2 mm (0.44″) thick, providing a comfortable grip while maintaining a slim profile.

GRUB – Dimensions And Weight

Despite its compact dimensions, GRUB remains a fully usable personal fork.

The 2 mm (0.08″) titanium core provides the required stiffness while allowing the finished tool to remain exceptionally light.

Dimensions: Overall length: 116 mm | 4.57″, Scale / handle length: 59 mm | 2.32″, Handle width: 15.5 mm | 0.61″ at the widest point, Tine length: 38 mm | 1.50″, Titanium thickness: 2 mm | 0.08″, Handle thickness: 11.2 mm | 0.44″ at the thickest point.

Weight: Fork weight: 22 g | 0.78 oz, Fork with sheath: 40 g | 1.41 oz.

At only 22 g (0.78 oz), the basic G10-handled version can remain in an EDC kit without noticeably increasing its weight. Even with the fitted sheath, the complete set weighs only 40 g (1.41 oz), making it suitable for minimalist carry as well as larger outdoor equipment systems.

Full-Tang Titanium Construction

GRUB uses a full-tang construction in which the 2 mm (0.08″) titanium core runs through the entire product—from the tines to the end of the handle. This simple and durable architecture avoids unnecessary structural complexity and gives the compact tool a solid working foundation.

Titanium is particularly well suited to an object intended for repeated use around food, travel, and changing environmental conditions. It offers a favorable strength-to-weight ratio, very good corrosion resistance, and the unmistakable material character that has made titanium one of the defining materials of the modern EDC world.

The handle scales are fitted directly to the titanium tang and secured with stainless steel screws. This construction makes the assembly visually consistent with MK Knives & Tools products while adding thickness, control, and comfort to the grip.

G10 – The Foundation Of The Regular GRUB Series

At present, G10 is planned as the primary handle material for the regular GRUB line. It is durable, resistant to moisture and changing conditions, easy to maintain, and available in a broad range of colors and patterns.

The material also allows individual versions of GRUB to be coordinated with different MK Knives & Tools builds. Classic solid colors can create a restrained everyday tool, while multicolor laminates and machined patterns can give the same construction a more expressive or collectible appearance.

G10 scales make the narrow titanium core more comfortable to operate without undermining the ultralight character of the design. In the basic configuration, the complete fork still weighs only 22 g (0.78 oz).

FIRST RUN – The First Chapter In GRUB History – Date of Release 31st of August 2026

Before the regular G10 versions appeared, the first historical GRUB series was produced with premium FatCarbon handle scales and marked FIRST RUN.

Those initial pieces quickly found their way to their first owners and established the more collectible side of the project from the very beginning.

The FIRST RUN demonstrated how strongly the compact titanium form responds to premium composite materials. Each FatCarbon pattern created a different visual result while preserving the same dimensions, full-tang structure, and practical function.

Although G10 forms the foundation of the current line, the first release established an important principle for the future: GRUB is not limited to a single material combination. It can remain a practical personal utensil while also becoming a small collectible object shaped by color, texture, and limited configurations.

Colors, Titanium Finishes And Future Variations

Variety was planned into GRUB from the beginning. Handle scales may appear in classic, high-visibility, earthy, or multicolor configurations, allowing the fork to match different EDC setups and different MK Knives & Tools models.

The titanium body introduces another field for development. A glass-blasted finish gives GRUB a clean, matte, and technical appearance, while anodizing can transform the same titanium core with colors ranging from restrained natural tones to more distinctive blues, greens, bronze-like shades, and other combinations.

Future versions may explore additional surface treatments, materials, or finishing methods. The construction remains consistent, but the appearance can evolve—making it possible to choose a discreet working version, build a coordinated set with an existing fixed blade, or add a more unusual configuration to a collection.

This flexibility reflects the broader philosophy of MK Knives & Tools: one coherent design can provide a foundation for many individual interpretations without losing its original identity or purpose.

Kydex And Holstex – A Secure Fit In Different Styles

Every GRUB is paired with a carefully fitted sheath made from Kydex or patterned Holstex. The sheath is formed closely around the tool so that the fork remains securely retained during neck carry and does not fall free under its own weight.

At the same time, the fit allows GRUB to be drawn efficiently when needed and returned to the sheath after cleaning and drying. The covered tines remain separated from clothing and from other equipment carried inside a pocket, pouch, organizer, or backpack.

Different colors, textures, and patterns allow the sheath to become part of each configuration rather than a purely protective component. It can match the handle scales, contrast with the titanium finish, or visually connect GRUB with the sheath of an accompanying MK Knives & Tools fixed blade.

Color-Matched Paracord And Neck Carry

A section of paracord is supplied with the sheath and selected to complement the scales, titanium finish, and overall styling of the individual GRUB build. It enables neck carry while also providing a simple attachment point for hanging or securing the set inside other equipment.

This approach preserves the neck-style character shared with compact fixed blades, but does not restrict the user to one carry method.

The paracord can be removed or reconfigured when GRUB is carried loose in a pocket, stored in a waist pack, or attached to another sheath system.

Together, the fitted sheath and color-matched cord complete the product as a coherent EDC object rather than leaving the fork as an unprotected accessory.

From Everyday Snacks To Outdoor Meals

GRUB was created first and foremost as a functional personal fork. It is suited to snacks and small meals at home or at work, food during travel, and meals prepared around a grill, campsite, or fire. The 38 mm (1.50″) tines can comfortably pick up pieces of meat, vegetables, fruit, cheese, and other foods while the fitted handle scales provide control beyond what would be expected from such a compact format.

The small size makes GRUB particularly useful when conventional cutlery would take up unnecessary space or when disposable utensils are undesirable. It can remain in a daily bag, travel organizer, camping kit, vehicle, or outdoor cooking setup and be ready whenever it is needed.

Like many compact EDC objects, GRUB may also assist with occasional light tasks. Its tines can help mark or make a small opening in soft material when necessary, for example when creating an additional hole in a soft strap. Such use should always remain controlled and appropriate to the construction—the tool should never be forced through hard materials or used as a pry bar.

A Small Tool With A Distinct MK Identity

GRUB expands the meaning of TOOLS within MK Knives & Tools. It carries the same focus on materials, construction, visual consistency, and individual configurations into an object that is familiar, useful, and unexpectedly well suited to the EDC world.

Whether carried independently, paired with a Flin SF or Flin DP, attached to another MK sheath, or selected as a collectible titanium accessory, GRUB remains true to its original purpose: to place a practical everyday object inside a carefully considered carry system.

The MK Knives & Tools family has gained something entirely new—not another blade profile, but a compact tool that can accompany one.
