Rambler Knife! The companion for forest hikes!

The forest is home to many creatures, both big and small. There is a certain kind of person who spends practically every free moment among the trees. In the harmony of the surrounding greenery, the scent of the forest floor, and the symphony of rustling sounds, they invest their passing minutes hiking forest trails and observing the surrounding nature. The forest camp is their second home, the area around the campfire is the living room, hallway, and bedroom all in one, and the campfire itself is the kitchen, lighting, and heating system. The Rambler knife was created for them. A sturdy camp knife and our answer to the question: what knife should you take to the forest? Rambler is a sizable tool capable of handling most challenges you encounter among the trees. Whittling, preparing forest wooden structures, assisting with firewood preparation, including chopping wood, as well as camp kitchen tasks, are typical jobs for the Rambler. Ready for every adventure, the Rambler is your trusted companion in the wild.

Rambler MK Knives & Tools “Wood Spirit” Elmax G10 & Stabilized Wood Holstex

Rambler – Built for the Outdoors

Rambler knife is designed for outdoor adventures—whether in the forest, mountains, or camp. It’s a great choice for bushcraft enthusiasts, offering versatility and durability for various tasks. Measuring 260 mm (10.24”) in total length, it’s large enough for demanding woodwork like batoning, chopping, and carving. The 131 mm (5.16”) blade is wide and well-balanced, making it equally efficient for smaller camp chores like meal prep.

Ergonomic and Well-Balanced Design

Despite its size, the Rambler feels natural in hand. Its weight is carefully balanced, reducing hand fatigue during extended use. The ergonomic handle features a contoured grip with a recess that accommodates both small and large hands. This design ensures a firm hold without forcing an unnatural grip, improving control—even when cutting with force.

Durable Blade with Practical Features

Rambler’s drop point blade is one of the most versatile for outdoor use. Its width (almost 4 cm) adds durability, making it resistant to high pressure and tough conditions. A jimping section on the spine provides extra control, allowing for precise cuts and added grip when applying pressure to the blade.

High-Performance Steels for Tough Conditions

Rambler knives are crafted from high-end steels chosen for their durability under heavy use. Options include Elmax, Vanadis 4 Extra, Vanadis 23, and Sleipner—each offering excellent edge retention and wear resistance. To protect corrosion-prone steels (V4E, V23, Sleipner), some models come with a black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating, which has a hardness of ~90 HRC.

Blade Thickness and Grind Options

Rambler’s blade usually has spine thickness of 5 mm (0.2”), but grind options vary to suit different needs:

  • Full (FFG) and high flat grinds – Ideal for woodwork and bushcraft tasks.
  • Groove (hollow) grinds (GG) – Enhance cutting ability and overall versatility.
  • Double grinds (DG) – A hollow grind along 2/3 of the blade with a flat grind near the tip for precision.
  • Combination grinds – Mostly groove (hollow) ground with a flat grind at the tip for added strength and better penetrating properties.
  • Fullers – which act like additional blade ornaments and are characteristic for specified series of the knives. More about knife series HERE.

Handle Materials for Comfort, Durability, and Collectible Value

Rambler handle scales come in a variety of materials. The most durable are certainly the G10 composite scales, which also offer a wider range of color options. Micarta is also used, slightly less durable but considered by some to be more elegant and more comfortable in hand. Carbon fiber is another option, both in classic form and in the exclusive FatCarbon variant, which is highly valued by collectors. The same goes for stabilized wood, which is also favored by enthusiasts. Many of Rambler models feature a combination of all these materials on the handle.

Kydex And Holstex For Convenience And Divercity

Kydex and Holstex are both used in Nomad sheaths, offering convenience and variety. Kydex is known for its durability and practicality, providing a secure hold and easy access to the knife. Holstex, on the other hand, adds more style with its textured surface and variety of finishes, while still maintaining excellent strength and functionality. The sheaths on Rambler knives come with original modules, typically featuring a textile loop (leather loop rarely). These modules are removable, and the sheath is compatible with the Adjustable Angular Buckle or Buckle for MOLLE Systems, both developed by MK Knives & Tools, allowing for customizable carrying options.
