How the Angler Knife Series Was Born: Where Fishing Meets Knifemaking

Hobbies and personal passions often play a key role in shaping who we are—and that’s certainly true for Marcin Kampka, the founder of MK Knives & Tools.

From a young age, Marcin Kampka developed a deep love for fishing, which he continued to pursue throughout his student years. Back then, his free time was often filled with crafting fishing lures and spending hours on the water.

As time passed, another interest—knifemaking—began to take root. What started as a side hobby eventually grew into a full-time profession and creative pursuit. Still, his passion for fishing never faded. It became a source of balance, a way to relax, recharge, and find fresh inspiration for his work.

It was only a matter of time before these two paths crossed in a meaningful way. That moment came with the idea for a fishing-inspired knife line—the “Angler” series. A collection that reflects both his love for the craft and the water.

Inside the “Angler: Perch” Knife Series — Fishing Details Meet Custom Design

Like other custom knife lines from MK Knives & Tools, the Angler series stands out with unique engraved details on its Kydex sheaths. You’ll find subtle graphics like a river or body of water, and a fishing hook—simple but meaningful icons that instantly tie the series to the world of angling.

“Angler” is the name of the general collection, and the first knives in this line come from a smaller subseries called “Perch.” Only three pieces were made in this debut run, each featuring a custom engraving of a perch fish on the reverse side of the sheath—a nod to the name and inspiration.

These “Perch” subseries knives also feature a signature handle design. The scales are made from dual-color G10 laminate, combining OD green and black in a layered pattern that mimics the natural coloring of a perch—dark vertical striping over an olive base.

Another standout feature of the Angler: Perch subseries is the introduction of a new fine full-height groove grind (FFG) on the blade, designed for both performance and visual character.

Custom Titanium Lures and the Angler: Perch Series – When Knives Meet the Water

What would a fisherman be without his lures? Probably not very successful. That’s why the Angler: Perch series from MK Knives & Tools comes with a personal twist: each knife includes a handmade titanium spoon lure—crafted in-house by MK himself.

Each Venn model in the series features a unique anodized finish on the lure, with color options like blue, brass, and bronze included in the first batch. These aren’t just decorative items—they were fully tested during actual fishing trips.

The verdict? They worked great. Perch eagerly took the bait, posed for a few photos, and were safely released back into the wild.

Each lure comes packaged in a custom aluminum box engraved with the MK Knives & Tools logo, made specifically for this project—adding a functional collector’s element to the “Angler: Perch” set.
