Flin Knife! Functional Light Integrated Need.

Concept – A New Chapter in Everyday Fixed Blades

Flin is MK’s modern expression of what a true EDC fixed blade should represent. Not simply a smaller knife, but a deliberate balance of practicality, cutting efficiency and elegant minimalism. Created as a compact tool that stands firmly in the real world, Flin distills MK’s decade of design experience into a knife built for daily tasks, spontaneous needs and those moments when a dependable blade proves its worth. It is Functional by nature, Light in presence, Integrated in form and purpose, and shaped around genuine daily Need. Flin aims to become the invisible companion—easy to carry, intuitive to use and surprisingly capable for its size.

Blade Philosophy – Purposeful Geometry for Effective Work

The blade of the Flin is designed around a refined wharncliffe-inspired silhouette with a clear working belly, offering a precise point for detail work and a long, controllable edge for clean slicing. MK’s philosophy for this model focuses on steels that are effective in use and easy to maintain—durable, corrosion-resistant and dependable in everyday environments. While early runs highlight steels like M390, the catalog will remain diverse, as always with MK, and future editions may introduce materials such as MagnaCut or other premium compositions selected for their real-world performance.

Grinds – Selected for Cutting Performance

Flin inherits MK’s characteristic emphasis on grind quality. Because the knife is designed as a high-performance EDC, the choice of grind is intentional and selective. Depending on the specific execution, Flin may feature:

  • FGG – Fine Groove Grind (hollow) for exceptional cutting aggression and long-lasting sharpness,

  • Full Flat Grind for balanced slicing and strength,

  • Refined hybrid variations tailored to the blade’s thickness and intended purpose.

The thickness itself is deliberately chosen to maximize cutting efficiency relative to the knife’s compact form, ensuring that each grind variant performs at a high level.

Details of the Edge – False Edge and Jimping

To enhance penetration, reduce drag and maintain the knife’s agile character, Flin incorporates a false edge on select versions. This upper bevel contributes to a slimmer tip geometry without sacrificing strength. Just behind it, carefully cut jimping provides tactile feedback and stability during precision cuts. The jimping is crisp yet comfortable, allowing controlled thumb placement without creating hotspots.

Handle Design – Secure, Natural, Protective

The handle of the Flin continues MK’s approach to ergonomic minimalism. It is slim, tightly contoured and shaped to offer a secure, instinctive grip. A key element is the front profile that shields the hand and prevents slipping toward the blade, providing safety even in demanding tasks or when working with wet or cold hands.
Materials will vary, embracing the full MK diversity:

  • G10,
  • micarta,
  • carbon fiber,
  • FatCarbon, and additional materials in future limited runs.

Each material is selected not only for aesthetics, but for grip, comfort and durability in everyday carry conditions.

Construction – Compact Strength

Flin is built around a solid internal tang that ensures rigidity without compromising the knife’s lightweight profile. The scales are precisely fitted and screwed into position, forming a unified structure where ergonomics, geometry and balance work together. The knife’s center of mass is tuned to support quick, controlled movements, making it feel lively and responsive in the hand.

Carry System – Adaptive and User-Focused

Every Flin comes equipped with a custom-fitted Kydex or Holstex sheath designed to lock the knife in place with crisp, dependable retention. The sheath provides a slim, streamlined profile that fits naturally into an EDC setup without unnecessary bulk.

As standard, each sheath is paired with an UltiClip Slim 3.3, allowing the knife to be carried securely on a belt, pocket edge, backpack strap or inside the waistband. The UltiClip ensures a strong, stable hold even on thin fabric, making Flin exceptionally versatile right out of the box.

While the sheath form itself remains consistent, carry preferences are intentionally left to the user. The system supports full modularity—orientation, attachment hardware and carry style can be reconfigured to match personal habits or the environment. Whether vertical, horizontal, inverted or discrete deep-carry, the knife adapts seamlessly.

This flexibility reflects MK’s design philosophy: a knife should not dictate how it must be carried. Instead, each user should be able to tailor their setup without compromising safety, retention or the knife’s compact profile. Flin’s carry system encourages exactly that—customization, confidence and complete everyday readiness.
